Conference and Exposition Monetizing and Managing IP assets for Business Excellence "Enabling Indian Industry, Institutions and MSME's to leverage IP assets for Sustainable Development"
Andhra Pradesh Technology Development and Promotion Center (APTDC) - CII- in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) organized IPEX -2012- A conference and Exposition of Monetizing and Managing IP assets for Business Excellence. NALSAR was the knowledge partner for IPEX-2012.
IPEX-2012 helped in gaining an insight into various strategies and best practices in maximizing and monetizing IP assets for business excellence.
IPEX was inaugurated by His Excellency E.S.L Narasimhan, Governor Andhra Pradesh on 27 July 2012. The Hon’ble Governor in his inaugural speech emphasized that India was never lacking in innovation and there is nothing that India cannot give to this world. He also spoke about the extension of the intellectual property benefits to the society and the social elements rather than restricting it to only an economic perspective and thereby getting only the elitist class in the IP benefit discussion. Innovation and IP Management should bring in change for the rural society and pave a way for development.
Mr. NN Prasad, IAS, from WIPO in his keynote address outlined on the role of India and particularly Andhra Pradesh in the development of IP and the initiatives taken by the governments in such regard. WIPO and India have been closely associated and the aim is to continue such assistance.
The Inaugural session was also addressed by Dr. AKS Bhujanga Rao, Natco Pharma, Dr. Faizan Mustafa , Vice Chancellor-NALSAR, Ms. Katherine Dhanani, US Consul General Hyderabad, Shri. Pradeep Chandra, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department and Dr. S Chakravarthy, Adviser-APTDC along with Mr. D V Manohar Chairman , Sri Shakti Group and Mr. S Jyoti Kumar, Director and Head APTDC who welcomed and thanked one and all for joining this Initiative of APTDC&CII.
IPEX-2012 had a series of special plenary and technical session spanning over two days and addressing diverse issues on IP measurement, Management, Valuation, Taxation on IP and very interesting case studies on Monetization and management of IP from R&D and Industry.
There was a very good participation from Industry in the form of Microsoft, Infosys, Dr. Reddys, Texas Instruments, Philips, CSIR labs and many others.
IPEX -2012 also presented a unique opportunity to get Inventors and IP service providers in one platform in the form of an Exposition well appreciated by one and all.
Finally, the main take away was the special plenary for MSME sector highlighting current challenges and Issues on IPR and how they can be addresses to make them more competitive.
IPEX-2012 was represented by renowned speakers and faculty from US, Europe and India from the field of IP and witnessed more than 150 participants from all over India across diverse sectors.
