Revised Development Plan for Hyderabad

The Revised Development Plan (Master Plan) for the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad area envisages construction of 10 new flyovers, 13 bridges, 7 new road under bridges, 70 commercial roads and 27 commercial strips.

As per an official press release, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has prepared a Master Plan to improve accessibility to all parts of the city. The highlights of the Master Plan include laying of alternative routes, integration of various projects and conservation of environment and heritage and has further extended protection of heritage buildings. There is also a provision laid down for conversion of Mothersa Maktha in front of Raj Bhavan as a residential zone.

Moreover, the width of internal colony roads has been retained as 40 feet. The outer ring road (ORR) project is expected to be completed in all aspects, including the road from Shameerpet to Vijayawada highway by November 2012.

Estimating the population of Hyderabad to cross 100 million by 2011 and 184 million by 2031, a draft plan is also being prepared. Furthermore, a decision has also been taken for the construction of a Logistic Park on 40 acres at Baatasingaram, which is expected to be completed in two years. A similar park would also be constructed on 20 acres at Mangalpally on Sagar Highway. Other proposals include construction of a bus terminal with one stop-shop facilities at Miyapur, facility for parking main buses, including facilities like accommodation, budget hotels and rest rooms for drivers to be part of the terminal.
