| CII proposes for a greener Himachal |

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recently proposed to the state to make Himachal Pradesh (HP) the first carbon neutral state of India. Taking the initiative forward, the CII submitted a proposal to the state government, focussing on greening existing industry by quantification and disclosure of CO2 emission and also submitted a policy and road map for Himachal Pradesh.
At a conference held in CII Northern Region headquarters, Chandigarh, Ms Sarojini Thakur, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Himachal Pradesh, urged the industries to set a yardstick to help the state achieve its goals of being carbon neutral and in turn creating more jobs and also help develop infrastructure for health.
Steering the focus on a cluster approach, wherein specific sectors will be identified in all major industrial areas, she said an action plan would be formulated for enhancing efficiencies in energy conservation, waste management, water conservation which would contribute in monetary as well as in ecological terms. |
